Our Values

All of our parents are screened for genetic health diseases and knee and cardiac exams. Plus they undergo eye exams by a canine eye specialist, and our vet performs hip x-rays which get graded by a panel. Puppies are examined by our vet at least once before going to their furever homes, and our sales contract includes a two-year congenital health protection clause for the buyer.

We pay close attention to the American Kennel Club's breed standards on structure and appearance ("conformation") to ensure that we're buying and holding back poodles that meet or exceed these standards. For miniatures, we look for things like good proportions, short muzzles, and good bites. This helps increase the chances of these good genetics being passed down to the offspring.

Poodles are a generally very social and friendly breed; however, just like humans, each one has its own, unique personality. We select parents who exhibit the traits that we wish to produce in our puppies, and we're very intentional when deciding which adults to pair together. 

Here at Klaus Poodles, we're very big on communication and transparency. When you decide to join the Klaus Poodles family, we send frequent updates about upcoming litters and stay in close contact throughout the process. We frequently update our website and private Facebook group, and we're also available for questions even after you purchase a puppy from us.

Puppies are raised indoors and loved on daily. They experience many common household sights and sounds and interact with other dogs and people of all ages. This gives them the best possible start in life and sets them up to be well adjusted, outgoing adult dogs.

Even though we've been breeding for many years now, our learning never stops! We participate in several breeder clubs and programs, consult frequently with our reproductive veterinarian, and stay up to date through podcasts and webinars. We also enjoy educating our buyers, especially first-time puppy owners. Our puppy "go-home" folder offers everything from a Potty flow chart to information on pet insurance, and much more!
